Currently 1 out of 7 Americans receive Food Stamps. That is up from 1 out of 10 American which was the number for many years.
So the next time you are at the supermarket break the check out line you are in, into groups of 7 people, and remember in each of those groups 6 of the people are paying for the stuff the 7th person is buying. In the old days the government parasite was easy to spot because they used real food stamps. Now the parasite is harder to spot because I think the government gives them a credit or debit card to make their food stamp purchases with. Letter: Food stamp usage has increased exponentially since inception Posted: Monday, June 17, 2013 3:55 pm Letter to the Editor Detroit car makers: TOO BIG TO FAIL. Major banks: TOO BIG TO FAIL. Food stamps: TOO BIG TO FAIL. So instead of fixing these problems that have dragged America to the brink of bankruptcy, we just sit around and do nothing while the national debt reaches $20 trillion and beyond. Food stamps started off in Democratic President Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Society” along with Medicaid and Head Start. At first, food stamps went to the “truly” poor. That’s 350,000 poor Americans and the cost was $75 million dollars in 1964. By 1966, 1 million Americans; 1967, 2 million. By 1970 there were 6 million. By 1974 there were 15 million. Now in 2012 there are 47.7 million Americans getting $74,600,000,000.00 (that’s $74.6 BILLION). The Democratic senate wants to only cut $4 billion in the next 10 years and the Republican congress only wants to cut $21 billion, and in the end, not one “red cent” (boy, ain’t that a “truism” being that 40 cents of every dollar spent on food stamps is borrowed from the Communist Chinese army pension fund) will be cut. The food stamp program was envisioned to provide “nutritional food” for the poor. Now they can buy sugar-sweetened sodas, Cheetos, Twinkies, candy bars and other “junk foods.” One in five Washington, D.C. (our nation’s capital) citizens are on food stamps. If you are an alcoholic or a drug addict, you qualify for food stamps. And the “kicker” is that if you qualify for food stamps, you qualify for a “free” cell phone with 250 minutes/tweets too.
